Johny Miller to fotograf z Cape Town w RPA. Za pomocą drona fotografuje dzielnice biedy i dobrze sytuowanych obywateli. Tutaj różnice pomiędzy nimi widać gołym okiem.

 

Miller w 2016 roku zapoczątkował projekt „Unequal Scenes”, dzięki któremu chce zwrócić uwagę na nierówności społeczne na świecie.

„The divide is starkly visible in places like Santa Fe, an affluent neighborhood on Mexico City’s western edge, where glass high-rises and shopping malls overlook slums that sprawl out from their shadows.” 🏙🏙🏙 This New York Times article in part focuses on Santa Fe, the neighborhood where I took some of my Unequal Scenes images in 2016. Interestingly, they also use the same neighborhood (pictured in my video below) as an extreme example of wealth inequality. ▪️▪️▪️ Despite these scenes, I found parts of Mexico City to be an incredibly sophisticated and pleasant place to be, with world-class food, business, and outgoing, friendly people. However, as the article makes clear, it’s the breakdown of the social compact in the poor areas, not the rich – which threaten the stability of the state as a whole. 🍸🥐🌶 https://www.nytimes.com/2017/09/30/world/americas/mexico-inequality-violence-security.html The images from Mexico were part of the Thomson Reuters Foundation Place project „Slumscapes”(http://www.thisisplace.org/shorthand/slumscapes/).
